PRACTICE AREAS
Three forms of
legal engagement.
The firm offers its services in three defined forms. Each is designed to answer a specific kind of legal need that arises in the life of a Malaysian business.

How the firm organises its work
Every engagement with the firm begins with the same question: what does the client actually need to know, and what form will be most useful to them? The firm's three services are the practical answer to that question, developed over more than a decade of advising businesses in Malaysia.
For questions with a single defined answer, a written opinion is the appropriate response. For documents that require considered reading before a decision is made, a contractual review sets out what the client needs to know. For businesses that encounter legal questions regularly throughout the year, the Continuing Counsel Year provides the steady availability of a qualified point of reference.
In all cases, the advice is given in writing, the fee is agreed in advance, and the work is completed within a stated period. These are not incidental features — they are the structure around which the practice is built.
SERVICE ONE
Written Opinion
A written opinion on a defined legal question the client has asked the firm to consider. The opinion sets out the question as the firm understands it, the applicable legal framework in Malaysia, and the firm's considered reading of how that framework applies to the client's circumstances. The opinion is intended for the client's own deliberation and is not designed as a document to be submitted to a court or third party.
Delivery is within four working weeks of the firm's receipt of the full materials and the client's written instructions. The fee covers the opinion itself and up to two written follow-up questions arising from it.
- Question scoped and confirmed before work begins
- Malaysian statutory and case law referenced
- Delivered within four working weeks
- Two follow-up questions included in fee
FEE
RM 1,720
THE PROCESS
Client submits enquiry describing the legal question
Firm confirms scope and issues terms of engagement
Client accepts terms and provides full materials
Written opinion delivered within four working weeks
SERVICE TWO
Contractual Review
A review of contractual documents the client has prepared, received, or is contemplating entering into. The review attends to the principal commercial terms, the allocation of risk between the parties, and any provisions warranting the client's particular attention before signature or submission. The firm reads the document as a whole, not selectively.
Where appropriate, the firm prepares an annotated version of the document for the client's use. Following delivery of the review, the firm supports the client through written exchanges arising from it. The length of engagement is determined by the matter, and the fee stated is indicative for a document of ordinary commercial length and complexity.
- Full document read, not selective review
- Risk allocation identified and explained
- Annotated version prepared where useful
- Written follow-up support included
INDICATIVE FEE
RM 2,460 / matter
THE PROCESS
Client submits document and brief description of context
Firm assesses document scope and confirms engagement terms

SERVICE THREE
Continuing Counsel Year
A twelve-month standing counsel arrangement for small and medium-sized businesses. The arrangement provides a defined volume of consultation time each month for routine legal questions arising in the client's operations — questions about contractual obligations, supplier or customer disputes, employment arrangements, and similar matters that arise in the ordinary course of business.
The arrangement includes quarterly review meetings and an open written channel for short questions. Suitable for organisations that benefit from the steady availability of legal counsel without retaining in-house capacity. Invoiced quarterly; either party may discontinue with reasonable written notice.
